For all of these grocery stores, please check the hours if you are planning on shopping on a Sunday. They are not all open and the ones that are usually have different hours.

If you go down into town via Pernand-Vergelesses you will see E.LECLERC (HUGE white building to your left as you go over bridge and around first round about as you enter Beaune from the route de Savigny). It is indeed, mammoth and very hard to miss. You will find pretty well everything you need here, including household goods, electronics, books, and magazines. It is open over lunchtime, as well as on Mondays. This is also a great place to fill up your car with gas.

This is where we go to stock up on fresh fruits, vegetables, wonderful cheeses and more when we can’t make it to a local market. The cost of grocery items (i.e. packaged meat, etc.) is generally more expensive here than at E.Leclerc but they always have a great selection of high quality produce and lots of tempting specials. This store is definitely worth checking out.

This store is to be found just before the Southern autoroute tollbooth in Beaune. This means that it is on the opposite side of Beaune from Villers-la-Faye. For guests in our village houses, E.Leclerc and Grand Frais are closer.
It is not the autoroute exit that you pass as you drive from Magny to Beaune. Just follow the autoroute signs - and you will see a huge sign saying CARREFOUR just to your left just before you hit the autoroute exit. Carrefour is open on Mondays and over lunch.

Also known as "le petit Casino". This smaller (and more expensive) boutique version of the Casino grocery stores has a great location in the heart of Beaune and also is full of local products to take home with you. Super easy to walk there from our Beaune apartment (don't forget your shopping basket and / or caddy that we leave for your use).

If you are staying in one of our village houses this small grocery store is a good choice for picking up a few items. Think of it as your local "corner store". It is located just down the road from Magny-les-Villers and Villers-la-Faye.
Last time I was in the Vival in Ladoix-Serrigny they were also selling some local eggs, etc. that were brought in daily by people living in the village as well as good lunch items for a picnic.

This supermarket can be found just before and to the left of the exit / entrance of the autoroute in Nuits-Saint-Georges. The big sign can be seen from far away. It is a large store so perfect for a big shop.

This is a brand new grocery store and recently has been very popular with people living in the area. When you come down from Villers-la-Faye via the village of Chaux, this store is just ahead of you. There are many signs with arrows pointing to it. This store is open on Sundays as well until 12:30.

This is one of a chain of German discount stores (the brand name is actually German). Many people compliment their shopping here as you can find some fantastic deals on quality cheese, fruit and vegetables, household goods, and wine. It is also open on Sunday morning.
DIJON
The industrial / commercial zone which you hit before you reach Dijon as you go along the Nationale in home to many "Hypermarchés"'. These HUGE supermarkets are testament to the fact that the French take what they eat very seriously. They are seriously massive so I do not recommend visiting when still jetlagged - can be highly disorienting and overwhelming!

A good one to stop at to get an idea of this kind of shopping experience is CORA. It is easy to find as it is just along the right hand side of the Nationale. Has tons of great clothes, food, wine, electronics, books, DVDs, pretty much everything under the sun...
