Yes, it’s not just an impression – Burgundians truly love to eat, and their restaurants reflect that. In the following pages you will find an eclectic mix of restaurant reviews we have culled over the years.
The reviews start in Beaune as the epicentre, and then branch outwards to the surrounding villages and then go farther afield (Dijon and then down to the Beaujolais). We’ll keep on adding and updating the list, so please don’t hesitate to let us know about about any new discoveries, or any disappointments among the places we have recommended.
Beaune - Casual DininG
CAFÉ DE FRANCE
13 Rue du Faubourg Bretonnière
Ph. 03 80 22 25 44
Run by a brother / sister pair who must be descendant from a line of giants (and always make me think of Hagrid in Harry Potter) and who concoct some of the best coq au vin and lapin à la moutarde that have ever passed my lips :)
Serves lunch only (and only during weekdays). You get a “prix fixe” menu with whatever they are cooking that day, which is written outside on a chalk board. You must be there between 12:00 and 12:30 to be served! Go early to get a courtyard table.
Authentic and an amazing bargain!
18 Rue Carnot
Ph. 03 80 22 32 93
This is not only one of our favourite places for a casual meal in Beaune (pizzas, salade au chevre chaud, etc.) but if you snag a table on the terrace you will be privileged to dine at one of the best people watching spot in Beaune.
This is our favourite place in Beaune for anything from a quick coffee to a delicious meal to a sumptuous dish of ice cream. Fair prices, friendly staff, speedy service, nice decor and awesome location – chances are you too will become a regular!
